A Human-Centric Return to Vilnius Airport
The interior of the VNO Terminal T4 marks our return to Vilnius Airport with a deeper understanding of its unique spatial demands. The experience gained from implementing the VIP terminal five years ago served as the foundational blueprint for this project.
Designing for High-Traffic Dynamics
With Terminal T4 characterized by intense passenger flows and a constantly evolving environment, our primary design criteria were ergonomics, durability, and technical functionality. Working in close coordination with the architects and Vilnius Airport staff, we developed solutions that cater to both the aviation professionals on-site and the travelers passing through.
The engineering of the check-in counters was one of the most insight-driven phases—analyzing previous workstations to precisely calibrate comfort and operational efficiency.
Atmosphere and Materiality
The mood of the interior is defined by warm, serene tones, lush greenery, and natural timber elements—intentional choices by the architects to mitigate travel-related stress and provide a sense of “hygge” (coziness).
- The Second Floor: Features contemporary zones tailored to modern needs, including bar-height workstations for pre-flight productivity.
- Seating Solutions: Bespoke curved benches harmoniously integrate stone, metal, and wood, creating a tactile and visual rhythm.
Execution and Logistics
Despite the inherent complexities of an active construction site, the installation was completed in less than six months. This was achieved through meticulous pre-planning, seamless team synchronization, and efficient process management.
The Project by the Numbers:
- Over 1,900 m² of furniture materials utilized.
- Approximately 900 unique components manufactured.
- Over 50 scheduled deliveries coordinated.
- And most importantly: zero sleepless nights.
The Result
The T4 terminal interior reaffirms that the human experience is the heart of any public space. By creating functional, ergonomic, and inviting zones, we have delivered an environment where both airport staff and passengers can truly feel at ease.
