Demus Office: A Workspace Envisioned as a Modern Art Gallery
Where Functional Precision Meets Curated Materiality
From its inception, the Demus Office was conceived as a space mirroring a contemporary art gallery. In close collaboration with the architects and the client, we aimed to create an environment where functional solutions exist in perfect symmetry with a minimalist aesthetic and a precise selection of materials. This “Gallery Concept” served as the project’s axis, dictating the style, proportions, materiality, and tonal palette of every piece of furniture.
Design Direction: The Gallery Aesthetic
To maintain the ethereal impression of a gallery, we placed immense focus on visual lightness, clean geometric lines, and material synergy. In this context, furniture is not “visual noise”—it is a subtle, integrated extension of the architectural space.
Engineering of Conference and Workstations
The distinctive character of the project is defined by bespoke tables manufactured according to the design by Heima Architects. Their construction pushed the boundaries of technical precision, utilizing:
- Stainless steel rods of varying gauges to create a delicate yet structural frame.
- Textured timber panels to introduce warmth and a natural touchpoint.
- Precision metalwork, requiring absolute accuracy in fabrication and a flawless transition between diverse materials.
Material Synergy
While working on the Demus Office, we meticulously balanced contrasting yet complementary materials to ensure they created a unified, elegant aesthetic rather than competing for attention:
- Stainless steel and industrial micro-cement.
- Premium furniture boards and natural timber textures.
- Engineered stone (solid surface) and natural stone accents.
- Supple leather detailing.
The Result
The Demus Office has been transformed into a modern, gallery-inspired workspace. Here, the furniture and interior elements cultivate an atmosphere where aesthetics, functionality, and master-level craftsmanship converge. The Distyle projektai team managed this project from the initial concept to the final installation of every bespoke piece.
